You can search for permits, schedule inspections on your property, make payments up to $5,000 for your permits, attach plans or documents to your application and review the status of your application at your convenience 24x7.

Fee Information & Payment

Yes you can make payments up to $5,000 online

You can only make payment for one permit at a time online.
Development charges are charged in accordance with the City's development charge by-law. Please contact the city's development charge administrator at 705-726-4242 for further information.
If payment was successful, there should be confirmation in your application record on the APLI portal. You can also contact Service Barrie with your application number for assistance at 705-726-4242 Monday to Friday (excluding holidays) between 8:30am - 4:30pm.

Managing Permits

You now have the ability to log into the portal to see the processing status as your application makes its way through the review process. (Note that online status updates are only available for applications submitted through the portal at this time.)
Yes, inspections will be able to be booked through the portal after permit issuance
Yes, re-inspections can be booked through the portal provided re-inspection fees are paid, if applicable.
Provided the inspector has access to your property, you do not need to be home for projects that are outside of the dwelling unit. An inspection report will be emailed to you. If the inspection requires the inspector to enter into the dwelling unit, somebody over the age of 18 should be present to allow the inspector to enter the dwelling unit to conduct the inspection.
Provided the application hasn't been submitted, you can make changes at any time through the process with the exception of documents. If the application has been submitted, please email building@barrie.ca with your application number and identify the mistakes you have made.
Changes to your application status or requests for further information will be sent via email to the applicant. You can also check the status of your application through the online portal.
You can use the "forgot password" feature on the login page to request a new, temporary password. Please be sure to check your junk mail folder for any email from eservices@barrie.ca with password reset information.
You can use either your username or email address to log into the online portal.
Confirm from your application on the portal if the payment was received on the file. You can also contact Service Barrie at 705-726-4242 any day between Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm with your application number for assistance

General Questions

Please send an email requesting the cancellation of your application to building@barrie.ca. A refund will be processed in accordance with the City of Barrie Building By-laws.
Your application will be reviewed by the City's Building department staff. You will be notified accordingly should further fees be required.
You can access the "c" menu and make edits to your information when you log into your profile in the online portal.
Limited information in your application will be available to the public. However, no ownership or other personal information will be available to the public. Only information classified under the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act will be accessible to the public.
You can change your email address but you cannot change your username. Log into your profile on the online portal and access the "Account Management" menu to review details of your account and make the necessary modifications.
